Why Not Me?

Why not me? Have you ever looked at someone who seemed to have it all together and quietly asked yourself, “Why does it happen for them but not for me?” Maybe you’ve watched someone start a business, learn a new skill, lose weight, retire with purpose, or simply enjoy life a little more than they used to. Deep inside, you wanted to believe you could do something similar, but another voice whispered, You’re too old. You’re too late. You don’t know enough.

I know that feeling because I’ve asked those same questions. But one day I stopped asking, “Why them?” Instead, I asked myself a different question. Why not me? That simple question changed the way I looked at life.

Growing Up on a Nebraska Farm

I wasn’t raised with computers, smartphones, or the internet. I grew up on a small farm in Nebraska, where life started before the sun came up. Being the third child in a farming family meant there was always something to do. We fed livestock, stacked hay, drove tractors, worked in the fields, and learned that everyone had a job. There were no days off because the animals still needed to eat, and the crops didn’t wait for anyone.

Looking back, those years gave me something far more valuable than I realised. They taught me responsibility. They taught me patience. They taught me that good things take time. On the farm, you plant seeds in the spring, care for them through the summer, and trust that if you keep doing the work, a harvest will come. You don’t dig up the seed every day to see if it’s growing.

Life works the same way. Sometimes we plant dreams instead of corn, but they still need faith, work, and patience.

Life Doesn’t Always Go According to Plan

Why not me

As I grew older, life brought wonderful blessings and unexpected challenges. I married my husband, and together we’ve shared more than five decades of marriage. We raised four wonderful children, spent countless evenings at soccer games, celebrated birthdays, holidays, graduations, and all the little moments that make a family strong. Like many families, we also faced heartbreak.

We lost a son-in-law far too soon. Suddenly, our daughter needed help, and our two young grandchildren needed family around them. Life changed overnight. That experience reminded me that family isn’t just something you talk about. Family shows up. You do what needs to be done, even when it isn’t easy. Those moments don’t make you bitter. They make you stronger.

Starting Over More Than Once

In 1984, we packed up our lives and moved from Nebraska to Missouri. Anyone who has ever moved knows it isn’t just about changing addresses. You’re leaving familiar roads, familiar faces, familiar routines, and starting over in a place that doesn’t yet feel like home. The children had to adjust to new schools.

We had to build new friendships. Everything felt different. Looking back now, I realise something.

Every new beginning felt uncomfortable. Every one of them turned into another chapter of our story.

That’s how life works. Growth usually begins outside our comfort zone.

Retirement Wasn’t the End

After years of working, retirement finally arrived. Many people dream about retirement as a time to slow down, relax, and do as little as possible. There’s nothing wrong with that. But it wasn’t enough for me.

I’ve always enjoyed staying busy. I enjoy learning. I enjoy helping people. I enjoy having a reason to get excited when I wake up each morning.

One day I simply walked into work and said, “I’ve had enough.” That chapter was over. But another one was just beginning.

Learning a Whole New World

When I began exploring online business, I quickly realised I had a lot to learn.

Websites. Blogging. SEO. Social media. Artificial Intelligence. Affiliate marketing.

There were days when I honestly wondered what half those words even meant. Technology has a funny way of making you feel like everyone else got the instruction book except you.

There were days I became frustrated. Days when something simple took hours to figure out. Days when I thought about giving up. But then I remembered something the farm had taught me years earlier. You don’t quit just because something is difficult. You keep learning. One step. One lesson. One day at a time.

The Question That Changed Everything

Somewhere along the journey, I stopped comparing myself to everyone else. Instead of asking why someone else was successful, I asked.

Why not me?

Why couldn’t I learn? Why couldn’t I write articles? Why couldn’t I help people? Why couldn’t I continue growing, even after retirement?

Age had nothing to do with it. The only thing standing in my way was believing I couldn’t. The moment I changed my thinking, everything else slowly started changing too.

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

One thing I’ve learned is that perfection isn’t required. You don’t need to know everything before you begin. You don’t need the newest computer. You don’t need to be a technology expert. You don’t need a college degree. You don’t even need to have all the answers. You simply need to be willing to take the first step.

Every expert was once a beginner. Every successful business started with an idea. Every harvest began with one tiny seed. And everyone had someone that beleived in them.

Why I Built This Website

This website isn’t about pretending life is perfect. It isn’t about promising overnight success. It’s about sharing what I’ve learned along the way.

Some pages may help you discover a new opportunity. Others may introduce you to products that make life a little easier. Some will simply encourage you to keep going when life gets difficult.

If something I’ve learned can save you time, answer a question, or encourage you to believe in yourself, then every hour I’ve spent building this website has been worth it.

Maybe This Is Your Time

why not me

Maybe you’re standing where I once stood. Maybe you’re wondering if you’ve waited too long. Maybe you’re questioning whether you can still learn something new. Maybe you’re looking for a little extra income. Maybe you’re searching for purpose after retirement. Or maybe you simply want to prove to yourself that you’re capable of more than you’ve been told.

If any of that sounds familiar, I hope you’ll remember this. I wasn’t born with special talents. I wasn’t handed success. I simply kept showing up. I kept learning. I kept believing. And I kept asking one question.

Why not me?

Today, I’d like to leave you with a different question.

Why not you?

You have experiences that no one else has. You have wisdom that someone else needs. You have dreams that are still worth chasing. Don’t let fear convince you that your best years are behind you. Sometimes the most beautiful chapters of life are the ones we never expected to write.

Thank you for spending a little time with me today. I hope you’ll continue exploring the website, reading more stories, and discovering new ideas. If you ever have a question or simply want to say hello, I’d love to hear from you.

After all, every journey begins with one decision. Maybe today is the day you stop asking, “Why them?”

And finally ask yourself, “Why not me?” Just follow through.
